I still remember sitting at the end of my bed to film my first YouTube video on my old Canon DSLR. No lights, no mic, no fancy setup — just a wobbly tripod and a lot of nerves. It felt awkward, unnatural, and took me forever to edit. But it was a start — and it felt amazing. Being able to express myself through video unlocked a new kind of excitement I hadn’t felt before.

Over the following months, I rode that excitement and posted semi-regularly, squeezing in edits after hours while working a full-time job. I started in Premiere Pro, since I had some experience with it. But it was slow going. I’d often spend an entire week of evenings just trying to stitch together a basic talking head video.

Then a creator friend suggested I try Final Cut Pro. I was skeptical at first, but once I gave it a go, my workflow instantly sped up. I was finally putting out more content — but even then, I found myself spending hours on things that should’ve been simple. I’d film tons of B-roll I never used, bounce between tasks, and lose focus mid-edit.

That’s when I started building the system that would become the Final Cut Fast-Track Formula. It began with batching tasks on set days of the week, and slowly evolved into a clear, repeatable workflow I could follow no matter how busy life got — allowing me to make efficient progress, even in small windows of time.

So many creators give up after a few months — not because they don’t have good ideas, but because their workflow creates too much friction. I know what it’s like to not have time to sit at a computer for days on end just to finish one video. That’s why I always tell creators: reduce the friction, and you’ll stay consistent. And consistency is what leads to long-term success.
